Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the North Keeper website and service (the "Service"), provided by North Star Tech Oy (Business ID 3632278-1) ("North Keeper", "we", "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation.

2. The Service

North Keeper provides deterministic integrity checks and verification — including the True North Certificate and the public registry — for research institutions. We may update, improve, or change features of the Service over time.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• misuse, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service;
• submit information you do not have the right to provide;
• misrepresent verification results, or use them to imply a status that has not been issued;
• use the Service in violation of applicable law.

4. Verification and the registry

Verification results reflect the checks performed against the data provided at a point in time. You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the data your institution connects. Results an institution chooses to publish may appear in the public registry. A certificate is a statement of what the checks found — it is not a warranty of any outcome beyond those checks.

5. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and content, belongs to North Keeper and its licensors. You retain rights to the data you submit, and grant us the rights needed to operate the Service and produce verification results.

6. Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided "as is" to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, North Keeper is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited as set out in the final agreement. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

7. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end access where these Terms are breached or where required to protect the Service or comply with law.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, and disputes are subject to the competent courts of Finland, unless mandatory law provides otherwise. The governing-law and dispute provisions will be confirmed in the final, legally reviewed version.

9. Changes

We will update these Terms as the Service develops and as they are finalised through legal review. Material changes will be reflected by the date above.
